This Time I am running office 2010 (twenty ten not twothousand and ten) beta. Last night I downloaded it from the Technet website. It installed, but the office professional plus did not give me the opportunity to enter a Product Key. so I assumed I could enter it later. when everything was installed, I tried to hunt down the location to add that key. it turns out that in every Office Application that is located under: File, Help:

There you should be able to activate the product OR to give in another Product Key. but too bad, my install only gave me the following screen:

A friend of mine, Helmer, posted a link that might do the trick, so I went to his Blogpost, but to no avail. It did not work.

SO I decided to repair my Install, for that looked like the problem in the screen above. I started the setup again and to my surprise I had an option that I needed:

So I selected the last option: enter a product key, and continued and there it was, the box to enter the Product key.

I entered the key and it even gave me the opportunity to change my setup by selecting options or deselecting option.

I restarted an office application and it was activated indeed…

Windows 7 Mobility center rocks

One of the features I really like about Windows Vista and Windows 7 is the Windows Mobility Center.I have been using it without looking very deep into it, but today while my students are doing a lab, I looked into it a little bit more: and I ran into the following feature setting: When switching to presentation mode it already blocked pop-ups etc. so your presentation is not interrupted by Joe who comes into messenger with his always funny remarks. We all know how embarrassing that can be. I like the feature Windows 7 has of the “slideshow desktop Background”, but when presenting I would like to have it as professional as possible, even with our company background. I used to change backgrounds manually, but today I found the following:

which gives me access to the following options screen:

This solves my problem of having a lot of preparation to do ahead of starting a presentation.

Now I wish this option would become available in Server 2008 R2…

ForeFrontDemo Environment growing

This week is a Forefront week, I am building a nice environment with all the new stuff forefront has to offer in it.

Still using Forefront Security for Exchange 2007 but for the rest is will be NEW stuf: Forefront Protection Manager, Threat Management Gateway and in the future it will also hold the UAG (Unified Access Gateway).
