Today I ran into an Exchange 2007 Server complaining about a certificate going to expire soon. The message was ‘The STARTTLS certificate will expire soon: subject <servername>, hours remaining: 443B90875D27CD69D1C5C99B0027DCF92E0EF71’.

Now I wonder, how many years would that be?

Of course, the message meant to say something else. The long hexadecimal number appeared to be the thumbprint of the certificate going to expire. Instead of many century’s left I had only a few weeks left.
