In 2002, The Rational Edge published an article by Philippe Kruchten called A Software Development Process for a Team of One. It's an article well worth reading about a single person doing a 4-day project, showing that the principles behind RUP are universal and apply to very small project too.
I used the article as the base for a presentation introducing RUP, and ran it succesfully twice.
