  • I am happy, just so happy

I blogged about the fact I was running Server 2008 on my laptop with Hyper-V, until the latest release I was not able to run both Hyper-V and Virtual PC/Server on the same box, the box rebooted when I started a Vm in VPC/VS2005. I tried again (against my better judgement I thought), and to my surprise: It works... So now I can run my ''old'' VM's ...

  • OUCH

eager to get the new Hyper-V working after two weeks of frustration that I got my hands on it, and not being able to get it installed because of the lack of available hardware, I installed the RC1 escrow build this afternoon. (Maybe you recall me having a new machine with a dual boot with my vista x64) I entered the DVD, booted from it, installed ...

  • It's getting better all the time

I read the news groups today and it seems the thing I posted about yesterday (windows Server 2008 RC0) is meant to be downloadable by me as well. only everybody has the same problem: it should be there but isn't. This is a nice way to tease your testers, tell them it is out there, but do not give it to them.... I feel like my kids sometimes do ...

  • How to spoil my day in one easy lesson...

I just opened my mail, and basically the first thing I saw was that RC0 of Server 2008 is released on connect for TAP customers only, this is frustrating, knowing that it's there, but not being able to get my hands on it.... AAAHH

  • Information on Windows Server 2008

When browsing and reading up on my Feeds, I encountered a couple of nice items out there on the web. I will try to keep these things coming to you through this Blog: The first is a free e-book on Windows Server 2008 and Powershell. The second is the group policy settings reference for Server 2008. the third is a nice post from Arlindo on how to ...

  • IIS on Windows Server 2008 Core

It is true: on Server core you now can install an IIS webserver role. You can run a static webserver, or an old ASP site. You will find documentation on installing PHP too on the internet. Adding the complete role (All of the options) takes you a lot of typing (or copy the following syntax to the console): start /w pkgmgr ...

  • June CTP has arrived

I should check Connect.Microsoft.com more often. I just saw (on another blog) that the June CTP of Server 2008 is available for download. I am doing that right now, and I am curious what's new in this build. I expect the Webserver role for server core to be there. ( it was announced already more than a month ago that this role would be added to ...
