Description | On August 29th GDG Cloud NL is organizing a Kubernetes event, where you will get the chance to dive deeper into ins and outs with our two great speakers in their 45 minute talks. Christiaan Hees (Google) will tell you more about Cloud Run and Berwout De Vries Robles (Info Support B.V.) will teach you about Kubernetes observability. The event will be held at Amsterdam Startup Village, sponsored by Info Support. Agenda: Doors open and pizza: 17:30 - 18:15 Talk 1 - 18:20 - 19:05 Talk 2 - 19:15 - 20:00 Event over Talk descriptions: Berwout de Vries Robles - "Getting started with observability on Kubernetes" So let’s say you have a kubernetes cluster that is running a few services. You have not done much in terms of observability and are starting to get a little overwhelmed managing your services. You feel like you need some sort of overview but you don’t really know where to start. In this talk we will explore how to build up your observability step by step starting from nothing. We will start the talk with a few basic services deployed to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). From there we will try to determine what the priorities and quick wins are. We will see what it takes to implement a few of them and what the relevant concerns are when we do implement them. Let’s see just how far towards an observable cluster we can get in 45 minutes! This talk should help you to: - Determine what your observability priorities should be in your specific situation. - Get started on implementing some of your own observability needs. Christiaan Hees- "Knative and Cloud Run" A story of Knative and Cloud Run and why it helps to reverse the way you think about them. I'll show what Knative is, what Cloud Run is and how they fit in the Kubernetes and serverless landscape. Christiaan Hees is a Customer Engineer at Google. He's experienced in web development ranging from frontend to backend and IoT to native apps. Always eager to find the right tool for the job. Currently drinking from the firehose of cloud information. |
