Description | UPDATE: In light of the global health concerns due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Microsoft has decided to cancel this event. Microsoft Ignite The Tour brings the very best of Microsoft Ignite to a city near you. The tour provides technical training led by Microsoft experts and your community. You’ll learn new ways to build solutions, migrate and manage infrastructure, and connect with local industry leaders and peers. On March 11 two of our MVP's will contribute with the following sessions: BRK30279 - Serverless Ponies: Event Driven Architectures in Azure - by Sander Molenkamp Event-driven architecture (EDA) is a popular distributed asynchronous architecture pattern used to produce highly scalable applications. The pattern is made up of highly decoupled components that asynchronously receive and process events. Microsoft Azure provides us with many out-of-the-box services that can be used to apply this kind of architecture serverlessly, such as Event Grid and Durable Functions. In this demo-heavy session you will learn how to combine these services into powerful solutions. To illustrate the concepts and give code samples, the presenter will use a game he built with his 8 year old daughter, combining their respective interests of Azure architecture and cute ponies. BRK30280 - Building Awesome 8-bit Adventure Games with Microsoft Bot Service - by Edwin van Wijk and Sander Molenkamp Being a big fan of classic 8-bit point-and-click adventure games, the presenter wanted to see if he could build such a game using the Bot Service. After all, the mechanics of these classic games are very much like interacting with a bot. The result is the Game-a-Tron 4000(tm) engine which uses Bot Service in combination with an HTML5 client to recreate the look and feel of games like Monkey Island. You’ll see how the game engine was created, how different bot channels are used, and how the user experience was improved by adding LUIS. In short, you can learn about how to use Bot Service for your own scenarios while feeling nostalgic for the good old days when games came on floppy disks and graphics were pixelated! | |||
