You might have noticed that the IT industry is quite concerned about offshoring and nearshoring software development. One aspect of this phenomena, which in my opinion, hasn’t been discussed a lot, is the idea of Fairtrade. I’m wondering whether the programmers in China and India get paid fairly… Is their paycheck fair compared to their local standards and is their pay fair compared to our pay? Are they being treated fair or are we just entering a new era of high-tech slavery? Does anybody care about that? So, to take a stand, I hereby suggest that we introduce a brand new logo that can only be used when having passed the audits.
