| Description | Fall 2020. Packing in a hurry, running to catch the flight to the next Tour stop, speaking in front of a full room is not going to happen this year. Instead, there will be a virtual trip, from Central Asia all way long to West Europe. User Groups from the following countries Azerbaijan, Belgium, Croatia, Luxembourg, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan are working together to build this series of virtual events Usually an OGB EMEA Tour is very condense. This year you will have a more relaxed agenda for the online event that will run under the motto “Let’s go back to basics”, with presentations spreading over many days between October 1st and October 15th. One of the speakers is Maarten Mulders. You can follow his live session "SSL/TLS for Mortals" on October 6th at 14:00 h. (CEST). In this session we’ll take a close look at TLS. We’ll dive into public/private keys, and signing. We’ll also learn what all this has to do with an unfortunate Dutch notary. Of course, there’ll be plenty of practical tips & trics, as well as demo’s. Using SSL/TLS the right way is often a big hurdle for developers. We prefer to have that one colleague perform “something with certificates”, because he/she knows how that works. But what “that one colleague” is enjoying vacation and something goes wrong with the certificates? In this session we’ll take a close look. Starting with what exactly SSL and TLS is, we’ll dive into public/private keys, and signing. We’ll also learn what all this has to do with an unfortunate Dutch notary.
