How about merging in (parts of) SCRUM? I’m personally really charmed about the daily meetings (15 min). This is just one singe element which can be easily introduced, without conflicting with either RUP or PRINCE.

Very true! Actually, when implementing a proces like RUP into an organization it is communication that is the most important part. Actually, everything comes back to communication. And I too am a great supporter of 15 min stand-up meetings.
Too bad too many meetings of these supposed to be short meetings end up in full dressed up meetings. To me a good stand-up is a quick inventarisation of what everyone has done yesterday and is about to do today, and what problems they have at the moment. The actual problemsolving should be done at a later time.
