  1. Actually, java.net is a global project space for open source projects in Java, not just the Java run time. And the domain is pretty ancient: registered on 18-Jun-1997. Those guys from Redmond weren’t even doing managed netty stuff back then.

Maybe Sun should rename Java 6 to “Dot Com”. That would be hilarious. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Smirking because Microsoft lacked the creativity to come up with a real product name. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Isn’t it amazing that I can write anything about Microsoft and as soon as I mention Java (and not even criticising it) my blog gets comments…

Anyway it is good to know I am being watched ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I agree with Jeroen. The .net domain is older than Microsoft .NET, which is still IMHO a very confusion product name.

    blah

  6. I don’t care who was first… It just made me laugh. BTW: Microsoft dropped the .NET thing as a product name/line/vision. It is only the .NET Framework that is still called .NET. (And of course Visual Studio .NET)

  7. And like Java is a really great name for a language, ehr, framework, ehr, enterprise stack…

  8. @Wouter

But Java is still way better then Oak. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (Yes, that was a development name for the Java language: http://today.java.net/jag/old/green/ )
